Seal carving, or 篆刻, is a traditional Chinese art form dating back to the Shang dynasty. It involves meticulously engraving characters or symbols into stone, creating stamps known as seals. These seals, often used for signing documents and artwork, hold great cultural and artistic significance. The process combines elements of calligraphy and sculpture, requiring skill and precision.
My involvement in seal carving merges artistic mastery with educational advocacy. By uniting traditional methods and my interpretation, I strive to adapt this ancient craft for contemporary relevance. Complementing this, I organized a Chinese intangible cultural heritage exhibition to educate and preserve such arts. For more information, please visit the exhibition details here.
